Saturday 10th October will see the 12th EFTC Annual Ball in Nottingham, Optiva Securities are proud to sponsor this event and be part of the work carried out by the charity.
EFTC's mission is to break the cycle of poverty through education and empowerment. We work in partnership with disadvantaged families, children and young adults in Guatemala, Central America to ensure they develop the tools they need to break free from the cycle of poverty.
James Jackson from Optiva went on to say “Although our day to day work is very much based on financial and investment matters, we understand our social responsibilities and the work organisations like EFTC undertake, we are pleased to be able to take opportunities like this, working with organisations like this shapes our world and spreads prosperity”.
Guatemala has the highest rate of child malnutrition in the whole of the Americas, ahead of Haiti. Nearly 50% of children under five suffer from chronic malnutrition.
Although officially education in Guatemala is free to all, the costs of books, school supplies, transportation, uniform and food mean that many families cannot afford to send their children to school.
